Locked out of your own encrypted drive, archive, or accounting file? We attempt recovery for assets you legally own.
A technical attempt to regain access to encrypted or password-protected data you own.
Passwords get forgotten. Encryption software gets upgraded and the old key no longer works. A loved one passes away and their laptop has a password no one knows. A hard drive is encrypted and the software used to encrypt it is no longer installed. These situations are common — and in many cases, recovery is possible.
We work with encrypted drives (BitLocker, VeraCrypt, FileVault, LUKS), password-protected archives (ZIP, 7z, RAR), office documents (Word, Excel with password protection), and accounting files (QuickBooks, etc.). Recovery success depends on the encryption strength and what information you can provide about the original password — but we always give you an honest assessment before charging anything.
A technical attempt at access recovery — using every legitimate method available for the specific type of protection involved.
Before any work begins, we verify you own the device or data, or have legal authority to access it. This is non-negotiable and protects everyone involved.
We identify the exact encryption type and configuration, which determines what recovery methods are feasible and what the realistic probability of success is.
We use password testing, key recovery, metadata analysis, and other technical methods appropriate to the specific type of protection. We work within the scope of what’s been quoted.
If successful, you regain access to your data. If not, we document what was attempted and why it wasn’t successful — so you have an honest record of the effort.
Tell us what you’re locked out of and what you know about the original password. We give you an honest assessment of the chances of success before you spend anything.
We verify ownership or legal authority. For most individuals this is a receipt, a serial number match, or similar documentation. For estates, this is next-of-kin documentation.
We work on your device using the methods appropriate to the encryption type. Timeline varies significantly — from hours to days — depending on the type of protection and what we know about the password.
If we successfully recover access, you pay the quoted fee. If we’re not successful after the agreed attempt, you don’t pay for the recovery — only for any billable assessment time agreed in advance.
We only perform password recovery on devices and data that you can demonstrate legal ownership or authority over. This includes your own devices, files you created or licensed, and devices for which you are the estate executor or legal next-of-kin. We do not perform this service for any other circumstance — no exceptions.
Strong, full-disk encryption like BitLocker and VeraCrypt with a good passphrase is not crackable by brute force in any reasonable timeframe. What we can do: attempt to locate the recovery key (for BitLocker), look for password hints or related files, and test likely passwords based on what you know about how you set it up. We’ll be honest with you about what’s realistic.
Yes, with appropriate documentation. We work with next-of-kin and estate executors. You’ll need to provide documentation of your relationship to the deceased and your authority to access the estate (death certificate, letters of administration, etc.).
